Man Held In PA Prison For Felony Robbery Found Dead In Cell

An inmate at a Pennsylvania Prison was found dead in his cell last week, according to a release by county officials.

Paul William Reardon, 35, of Ephrata, was found unresponsive in his cell during a routine check on Tuesday, Feb. 1, at 11:46 a.m., according to the release.

Prison staff conducted CPR, utilized an AED and called 911, as stated in the release.

Lancaster City fire and EMS personnel arrived and conducted lifesaving, before he was taken to Lancaster General Hospital, the release states.

Reardon was pronounced deceased by Lancaster General Hospital medical staff on Saturday, Feb. 5 at 9:50 p.m., according to the release.

The Lancaster City Bureau of Police is conducting an investigation.

Reardon was being held at the prison for a robbery he was accused of committing with Ellyn Christi Pawlowski, 34, of Ephrata, at the Lowes located at 25 Rohrerstown Road on Jan. 19, according to a police release at the time of his arrest.

The pair was arrested on warrants and admitted to the prison on Jan. 29, accorded to the police release.

Reardon was being held on a $250,000 bail and his preliminary hearing was scheduled for Mar. 10, according to his court docket.
